Flood update 3rd February 2026
Hursley Village Groundwater Flooding update from your Flood Management Group:
January was exceptionally wet - 192 mm against an average of 77 mm and included 8 days over 10 mm of rain, the worst being 27 Jan (37 mm). This has led to the water table rising very quickly and will continue to do so as the rain from the last week flushes through.
We suggest there could be cellar flooding by mid-next week.
Forecast for next two weeks is about average for Feb.
If you need any help do please let me know. We will monitor the Dolphin cellar as this is a our first cellar in the village to flood.
This morning I have reached out to our contact at Southern Water to check-in and ask for updates on any plans to potentially tanker from the Southern Water station by Meredun entrance, if the situation does require it, and if there will be plans to put traffic lights in place.
I will keep you all informed.
Michael is monitoring his ice cave (the first place to visibly show groundwater levels rising at the end of the village).
Door knocking may commence on vulnerable properties if we see ingress at the Dolphin given the potential pace the water could rise.
